Furion

Age: Exact Age Unknown

Location: The Edge of Wild Space

Physical Description: Furion is a desolate war-ravaged scavenger world. At some unknown point in the past Furion was the battleground in an earth-shattering war. So great and terrible were the weapons used that the planets very crust was cracked allowing unprecedented access to its molten core. As such Furion is a red-brown in colour and constantly ravaged by radiation and sandstorms. There is little by way of permanent settlement the closest being the wind whipped mountains where Shelter Town has been built. The Rad-storms that plague Furion’s surface are of unknown origins. The belief held by scientists is that radiation from the mighty weapons of years past has soaked into the very planet. This radiation builds up within the planet before a low-pressure system passes over the great rents and bonds with it creating the infamous rad storms. These storms have swept most of Furions rugged steppes and great glass plains of any noticeable fauna or flora.

Origin: Republic Explorers first discovered Furion almost two thousand years ago. The planet they found was a harsh volatile one it’s very crust rent in multiple places and scattered with ancient technology. The Explorers determined Furion has been destroyed in some long forgotten war but remarkably life persisted. The cause and time of the war are hotly debated: some are of the belief it to be a victim of Xim the Despot, others say it was a casualty during the Sith War’s and still others suggest it was one of the numerous Hutt world destroyed in the Great Hutt Cataclysm. The Planets history held little interest to those who came to settle it. Corporations tried and failed to establish mining colonies over the years and one by one gave up on ever accessing the planets rich natural resources. Where there is money to be made however there are those willing to do anything to earn it. So the Scavengers or Scavs as they are better known came to be. Tenacious, inventive and mean these pioneers eked out a living on this hostile planet. They learned the only way to weather the storms was to avoid them all together. So they modified speeders, transports, sandcrawlers to withstand radiation and created a highly mobile and versatile society. They organized themselves into Coalitions that would sell the accumulated resources of hundreds of Scavs to the corporations an enragement that worked well for years. Furion remained neutral during the Clone Wars neither side wishing to risk valuable troops in such hostile environments. In the post-republic era in theory Furion is a member of the Empire. In reality, they remain independent, as they always have done living life on the edge.

Culture: Furionians are fiercely independent and in some cases somewhat insane. Furionians are all about the next big score and the next sweet ride constantly modifying and improving their vehicles. The majority of the Collations are based out of Shelter Town the only permanent settlement on the planet. There the varying Coalitions compete for corporate sponsorship all under the wise management of Builder an ancient creature that founded the town years ago. In Shelter Town, the Builders Law is clear: no theft, no killing and no sabotage. On the road, however, everything goes and less scrupulous Collations are known to prey on smaller ones. Compounding all this are the Irk’s and Radtouched. The Irk’s are a primitive green skinned savage race that claims to be the original inhabitants of Furion. The Radtouched meanwhile are groups of Scavs who have spent to much time on the road and have been driven mad by the radiation. They roam the planet warring with everyone in their path. While the corporations have several space stations in orbit from which they observe everything occasionally attempting a takeover. When this happens Shelter Towners, rival Coalitions and even the Irk’s and Radtouched band together to repel them.  Afterwards, they return to the way things always are, mining resources, killing rivals and living life in the fast lane.

Flora and Fauna: The flora of Furion is rarely found and even then only in isolated valleys within the mountains. Indeed most remaining life on the planet clings to these mountains and are as ugly as sin and twice as mean. The local Irk’s meanwhile is a savage species native or no living in strict tribal societies that regularly raid Coalition Convoys. They’ve even attacked shelter town several times in the past when a great warlord arises. The Irk’s are a nomadic people preferring to stick to the crags and gullies of the North rather than the molten south.

Affiliation: Osestentiously Imperial, in reality, Independent

An ancient resource-rich radiation ravaged planet and a stop in the Bare Squadron's future path. As always feel free to leave a comment down below! Concept belongs to me, message me for use.
