Age: 7.9 Billion Year Old

Location: Halfway between Alderan and Coruscant at the intersection of Metellos Trade Route Hydian Way

Physical Description: Saraceno is a giant planet of great grass plains and dry deserts appearing from space to be not unlike that of a golden orb. Seven months of the year however brutal winters sweep over most of the planet transforming it into an icy wasteland. Due to a lack of real natural resources, the planet has been largely ignored in the galactic scheme of things. What civilization that exists is in the form of strung out farms and townships made of pioneers.

Origin: Saraceno was due to it’s Mid Rim location discovered early on in galactic history. However, due to unfavourable conditions and a lack of resources, it was left largely unsettled. Enterprising ranchers and farmers came over the next few hundred years establishing a string of communities that supplied much of the galaxy’s meat and grains. However, rather than become more urbanized the rural lifestyle and frontier spirit remained. While practically uninhabited in sheer size it is comparable to planets like that of Coruscant. The forgotten truth about Saraceno was that it was a victim of the Rakghoul Plague in the last great Jedi Sith War. This horrifying virus forced the planet into quarantine and the lingering memory of the sheer terror of these monsters and the rumours that Rak’s still may exist has kept all but the bravest away from the self-proclaimed Pioneer’s Paradise.

Culture: The main two cities of Saraceno are those of East Bluesfield and West Bluesfield who together form a sort of planetary government. They extert a limited control via the use of their highly trained Ranger Marshals an elite fighting force of lawmen who roam the planet. Saraceno’s one great technological treatment is the ‘Overcharge Revolver’. These specialized blaster pistols and rifles are beasts and will use up an entire energy pack in a signal shot. The standard models can hold up to eight plasma packs before needing to be reloaded. There’s a good deal of tension between East and West as they though a planet-wide civil war almost two hundred years ago that resulted in the near destruction of the once great southern port city of Siispii. The majority of the planet's population make their living in the farming of grains and the ranching of imported beasts such as Bantha’s though this has been at the expense of the native six-legged equestrian animal known as Red Demptions for their rust-red coats. A pioneering can-do spirit is what binds folks of all walks of life together in common purpose the east-west divides notwithstanding.

Flora and Fauna: Red Demptions a six-legged equestrian creature that is still known to roam free in the vast unsettled plains. They are often stalked by Razer Lizards a raptor-like race of pack animals that are shot on sight by the settlers. Due to the extensive years of ranching a variety of formerly domestic animals have escaped and now compete on the high plains. It is even rumoured that prides of Nexu’s can be found in the Barrier Mountains stalking prey in the high passes.
Affiliation: The Empire has a base in orbit above the planet but it is little better than a way station for ships travelling the hyperlane. As such Saraceno is practically independent.
