The Chop Shop
Age: Well over a thousand years old.
Location: Near Nal Hutta, just off the Corellian Run
Physical Description: The Chop Shop is a large cylinder at its core, tapering at the tops and bottoms like a massive spinning top. Years of add on’s retrofitting and wear and tear has distorted this shape somewhat but the core remains the same. Surrounding this central hub is a variety of external rings that serve as solar panels and shipyards as well as a small asteroid field where mining takes place. Hidden among this asteroid field are a variety of defences including gun platforms, concussion mines and gravity wells. It’s rumoured the entire station has been fitted with a hyperdrive much like the Empire’s Death Star. The validity of these claims has yet to be proven.
Origin: An old smugglers waypoint on the way to Nar Shadda that has aligned itself with the Rebels. The Chop Shop started life as an old Republic Waste disposal station close to a thousand years ago. Hundreds of years and dozens of different owners later The Chop Shop has evolved into a fully formed factory city. Some of the galaxies most gifted mechanics and salvagers call this base home and it is widely considered to be the birthplace of Uglies. The Alliance is based on levels 10-18 of the 79 levels and retrofits freighters, light cruisers and starfighters. On the other levels, everything from pirates, gangsters and smugglers rule forming The Choppers Council made up of 78 representatives and one station manager.
Culture: The Chop Shop is a laissez-faire society in the truest sense of the word. On the station, everything goes crime, nudity, drinking and rebellion. So long as what you do does not harm another without consent the Choppers Council could care less. It this type of rebellious and freedom of spirit that has kept them free of the empire. Be they gangsters, rebels or scrappers none want regulatory oversight interfering in their affairs. The Station Manager is a rotating title that changes hands every year while elections for Level Manager are conducted at the individual levels discretion. So long as business continues and big government stays away everyone is happy.
